Obituary for Marichris Gardner

Marichris “Chrissy” Gardner, 52, Waverly, PA died Sun, July 23 from heart failure complications. For more than half of her all too brief life, she battled numerous health crises with astounding courage, grace and humor.

She was preceded in death by her sister Sharon Bryant and her parents Gerry and Fred Gardner. She is survived by her partner Abby Peck, her brother Michael and his wife Lori, her sister Karen and husband Harold Jones, their children Janelle and Hayden, nephew Jason Bryant, her Godchildren, extended family and friends, and “Kylie” (the Wonder Dog)

Chrissy was born in Scranton and grew up on East Mountain in Scranton and graduated from Scranton Central High School. Her fun-loving entrepreneurial spirit emerged early in hosting numerous beer parties on “The Mountain”. She earned a degree from the Medical School of Radiologic Technology at CMC where she worked as an X-ray Tech for 27years, much beloved by her co-workers and patients.

Chrissy lived a life full of loving kindness, generosity and fun. These gifts she shared not only with family and friends, but with everyone she met. To meet Chrissy was to love her and be enfolded into her wide and warm circle of friends. Her sense humor was gentle and insightful, and her smile and laughter delightfully infectious. She was devoted to family and friends, loved the beach and bird-watching. She was a die-hard Miami Dolphins fan, which may have contributed to her heart issues , in spite of yearly disappointment.

Her family would like to thank all those who enriched her life with their love and support, and those whose medical expertise contributed to the length and quality of her life. A party to celebrate Chrissy’s life will be held Tuesday, August 15 from 6-9 pm on “The Mountain” at the Waldorf, German American Club 13 Waldorf Lane Scranton.
