Obituary for John Coleman

John Coleman of Dunmore died Tuesday September 5, 2017 at home following a brief illness. His wife of 41 years is the former Susan Reuther.
Born in Scranton he was the son of the late John C. Coleman, and after John’s passing he was raised by the late Alphonse and Ann Kohanski.
A graduate of Scranton Technical High School he proudly served in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement he was the owner operator of John Coleman Masonary & Concrete Construction Company. John was an extremely generous man who was loved by all that knew him, he would happily give anything to anybody expecting nothing in return.
John was an avid hunter and was proud to go hunting with his son. He loved tending to his rose bushes and his canine friends “Jasper” and “Dixie Doodles.” He would take them through Dunmore for their rides.
John was a hard worker and was very proud of his work. A jokester extraordinaire, he always had fun with his friend Tommy Ware.
John’s family would like to send a special thank you to their neighborhood and friends who helped support them during John’s illness.
Also surviving are daughter Carrie Coleman and boyfriend Kyle, Virginia; son Matthew Coleman and girlfriend Shannon Gallo, Michigan; sister-in-law Desalle Reuther, Scranton; niece Eva Depre and husband William; nephew Michael Reuther and wife Chris; great nieces Natalie Reuther, Nina Megotz; great nephew David Megotz.
He was preceded in death by brother-in-law Leonard C. Reuther.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton. Interment with military honors, Dunmore Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
