Obituary for JoAnn E. Chase

JoAnn E. Chase, 78, of Scranton died Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by her family.

She will be forever remembered for her avid love of sunflowers, lemon, soap operas, and all things teapot. Some of her favorite things to do were to join together with her family and have a tea party, or sit down to a game of Scrabble. She had a sense of style that could rival no others, and never failed to complete the daily newspaper crossword puzzle.

Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and staff at both Moses Taylor and Regional Hospitals.

She is survived by her older sister, Mary Dovan, Fairport, NY; her brother-in-law, Edwin H. Chase, Tunkhannock; and children Alison Cummings and husband, Jim, Clarks Summit; Eric Chase and wife, Ellen, York; Glenn Chase, Astoria, NY; Dana Chase and husband, Adam Greschler, Baltimore, MD; and Rebecca Chase Kim and husband, David Kim, Oreland; as well as her seven grandchildren, Kaylee, Jeremy, Shane, and Evan Cummings; Andrew and Luke Chase; Jules Greschler; and soon-to-be eight, baby Kim. She counted her many nieces and nephews as her “extra children.” She is also survived by numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Donald J. Chase, and her older sister, Lois M. Palko.
