Herbert L. Ortlieb, son of Herbert I. Ortlieb and Evelyn Ortlieb, passed away on April 2, 2024. Born in Scranton, he lived in Las Vegas and later in Atlantic City. He served in the U.S. Army before opening the first Casino Resorts International as a pit boss, and later Playboy and Trump’s Castle. He enjoyed golf and billiards, as well as fast cars. He was club champion numerous times at his club, Mays Landing Country Club. He had a great love for animals, especially dogs (not so much people), and bequeathed his estate to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in the hope of bettering the lives of animals. Arrangements and on-site cremation are under the care of Miller Bean Funeral Home, 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton.
