Obituary for Chester Simonson

Chester “Chet” Simonson of Avoca passed away Saturday August 13, 2016 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit following a brief illness. He was the husband of the former Dorothy Jean Price who passed away on July 10, 1996.
Born in Scranton he was the son of the late Andrew and Mabel Dennis Simonson. Educated in Moosic schools, he proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a truck driver for numerous local companies.
Chet was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #604 in Moosc and was a retired member of the Teamsters Local #229. He was also a member of the Moosic United Methodist Church.
Surviving are sons Robert and wife Lea, Florida, Dennis and wife Chris, Duryea; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Silveri, Moosic; grandchildren William Simonson and Kim Pasko and husband Christopher; great-grandchildren Eisela and Cole Pasko.
He was preceded in death by a son Chester.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with the Reverend Michael Shambora, pastor of the Moosic United Methodist Church officiating. Interment with Military Honors, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart 600 Baltimore Dr. Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
